Community Support - Guidelines for applicants
Before completing the application form, please study the section on the form entitled ‘Who is Eligible’ and follow these guidelines carefully. Incomplete forms, requests for core funding or non-specific funding i.e. appeals will be rejected. This form is non-transferable and must not be copied or adapted.
Please note that Foundation meetings are held quarterly and no funding will be agreed outside these meetings. Closing dates for the receipt of applications is the last day of the month preceding the next Foundation meeting.
1. Contact Details
This section should be completed by an official from the registered charity. This person will be held responsible for the money we are providing. We would therefore expect you to keep us fully updated with regular reports on the progress of the project/event.
2. Aims of Charity
This short paragraph (no more than 50 words) should sum up the charity’s key aims and objectives. This detail may be reproduced on our website so should be concise but include the key elements relating to your cause.
3. Purpose of the Application
This section must only relate to the purpose of the money- what is it paying for exactly. Background information relating to the project should be included briefly or as an attachment. If you are applying for funding for an event the date and location should be included only if details have been confirmed (any changes should be notified immediately otherwise funding could be withdrawn). The project/event must be within our branch-operating region to benefit the North West community and within close proximity to one of our 52 branches.
4. Level of Donation Sought
The amount requested should relate to specific costs, we do not make donations into a ‘pot’ or towards an appeal. The money is ring fenced for the purpose outlined. The donation value depends upon the amount of people who benefit from the project, the geographical region it relates to and publicity opportunities. Payment will be made upon completion of the project or date of event.
5. Breakdown of Costs relating to this Application
Funding will only be awarded on confirmed costs, not estimates. A precise breakdown of costs must be given otherwise your application cannot be considered. Copies of quotes or correspondence which substantiate your request can be attached. Part funding will only be considered with no more than one other sponsor. Your application can not be considered without full details.
6. Sponsor Status
Please indicate the status of the sponsorship arrangement using question number 10 as a guide.
7. Sponsorship Benefits
To promote the Cheshire’s support our name may be produced in association with the project/event on any printed materials. Draft artwork should be faxed to the Marketing Department on 01625 617147 for approval prior to production. The Cheshire’s logo should not be used without consent, artwork can be provided with guidelines for use upon request. Old artwork must never be reused without checking first, as compliance issues may be relevant. Our association with fundraising events throughout the North West Region may be promoted with the Cheshire’s large PVC banners, display equipment and leaflets. The Cheshire’s representatives attend all sponsored fundraising events therefore please make provision for at least 2 tickets.
8. Press Coverage
As a mutual organisation we like our members to see the support we give to organisations in the North West. We promote partnerships on our website www.thecheshire.co.uk and internally to all our staff via our intranet service. To communicate our association with your project/event in local newspapers we would ask you to make arrangements for a photocall and press release to be issued. We see this as providing mutual benefit to both of us in raising the public’s awareness of community support. Please include the following press quote in any information sent to newspapers: -
“The Society is pleased to support …….. and the ……………… as part of its Community Support Programme. Helping the local community is an important part of being a mutual Building Society, something to which the Cheshire is firmly committed” Commented ( CBS Manager in photo)
9. Fundraising
Define the amount of benefit this project or event will provide to the community. You could also give an example of how the money raised could make a real difference to people’s lives.
10. Other Sponsors
We prefer to be sole or main sponsor but would consider dual sponsorship with another partner whose business does not conflict with our own. Acknowledgements or thanks to minor contributor’s e.g. for raffle prizes are acceptable. You must advise us straight away if there is any change to sponsor arrangements.
